Guillermo has over 35 years of experience in all aspects of financial management and operational management in the private sector, nonprofits, government and United Nations organizations. Given his wide portfolio of experiences in financial and operational roles, Guillermo is in a unique position to offer advice on a wide range of challenges that business leaders must overcome.
Guillermo is a highly decorated retired US Air Force (USAF) Colonel with several postings throughout the world. He has been both personally recognized for outstanding performance and as a squadron commander led two separate organizations to earn global recognition as best across the USAF by winning the Major General Eugene A Eubank Award.
Prior to his retirement from the USAF, Guillermo rose to be assigned as the Chief Financial Officer of a $2 Billion per year global operation focused on the quality of life of the Air Force community. Since leaving the military in 2008, Guillermo served for 3.5 years as Director of Administration of the World Health Organization’s America Region overseeing Finance, Information Technology, Procurement and Human Resources, as SVP at Global Communities and as a Partner in a nationwide CFO Services firm.
Prior to joining Transworld Business Advisors, Guillermo was the Regional Leader of the DC, VA and MD territory for B2B CFO, the largest CFO Services firm in the United States. As a partner of B2B CFO, Guillermo facilitated the sale of a major stake of a clients business to a publicly traded company for a value that exceeded nearly 300% of prior offers. Guillermo is passionate about helping business owners prepare their business for sale to garner more and higher value offers for their businesses.
Personally, Guillermo is an advocate for those who need social, legal, or financial assistance. He has been appointed to many boards, commissions, and committees throughout his career. Previously, Guillermo served two consecutive terms as a member of the Audit Committee of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. He also served as Board Treasurer of Ayuda Inc, a Washington Based not for profit that provides legal and social services to immigrant communities of the DC Metro area. He also served as Board Chairman of Express Microfinanzas SAS, a Bogota Colombia Microfinance Institution. In this capacity, he oversaw the sale of the company to a much larger company who wanted to enter the Colombia market.
Guillermo holds a Master of Science in Professional Accounting and certifications as a Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, Certified Value Builder, and a Certified Mergers & Acquisition Advisor.
